AffirmedID Installation
For installation, proceed as follows:
- The first page displayed, ‘Please Read and Acknowledge’, explains the app's use of device sensor data, specifically GPS location and proximity to other devices. It also explains their use to recognize gestures and behaviors. Enabling app use in both the foreground and background is done using check boxes. The foreground is necessary; the background is optional, but recommended.
- A standard Personal Identifying Information disclosure is then provided.
- Next the app requests permission to use the sensor data described on the prior pages.
- The main screen appears with the banner indicating it is 'Establishing cloud access' to the AffirmedID cloud services. The app remains paused during this process, which takes just a few seconds to complete.
- Setup concludes with a message indicating cloud services are available.
- Introductory information you can scroll through is provided. Tap the banner message to remove or redisplay this information. This method of providing feedback information is provided from time to time.
- Finally, enter a PIN code that is easy to remember. It may be 3 or more digits long. For consistency with other use cases, we recommend 4 digits. Optionally, note that PIN code security can be improved by adding a double tap to one of the digit inputs.
- Refer to the ‘User Guide’ for more information on this and other subjects.
Note: TestFlight limits the AffirmedID period of use to 90 days from date of installation. By reinstalling the app the period can be result to 90 days but in doing so you will need to transfer the original registered account to the new installation.
Keeping the app installation up to date is desirable, but, unfortunately, installing updates is influenced by the cell phone operating system. Not all do it the same way. Added to that, is our own peculiar quirk. That is, when either the major or minor version changes, which would be the 6.1.n part of the current version, a fresh and clean installation occurs. When only the revision part changes, the n.n.4 part, the update is exactly that, an update to the app retaining all user data. Should the update result in a 'clean' installation, it becomes necessary to reregister using the Opt + Transfer option. Doing so transfers the account and all linked service providers to the newly upgraded installation.
Disclaimer: While the above may seem overwhelming where a cell phone app is concerned it is our expectation that the production deployment will be sufficiently intuitive to not require such detailed instructions. As part of your evaluation, we would appreciate your inputs on this and all aspects of your experience with AffirmedID.
